Kravice Waterfalls

Kravice Waterfalls
Kravice Waterfalls is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's most beautiful natural spots. Located on the Trebižat River, about 40 kilometers south of Mostar, this stunning cascade drops from heights of 25 meters into a gorgeous emerald-green pool below.
During summer, the area becomes a popular swimming spot for both locals and tourists looking to escape the heat. The waterfalls stretch across a 120-meter radius, creating a spectacular amphitheater of water that's particularly impressive during spring when snowmelt increases the water flow.
What makes Kravice special is how it remains relatively untouched compared to similar attractions in Europe. The surrounding area features small cafes where visitors can enjoy local food while taking in the views. The mix of rushing water, lush vegetation, and natural swimming areas creates an atmosphere that feels almost tropical despite being in the Balkans.
Interestingly, the falls were once used to power local mills that were crucial to the region's economy. Today, they're protected as a natural monument. The best times to visit are late spring when the water volume is high or summer when swimming is ideal, though it does get crowded during peak season. The falls freeze occasionally during particularly cold winters, creating an entirely different but equally magical landscape.
