Lake Skadar National Park

Lake Skadar straddles the border between Montenegro and Albania, forming the largest lake in the Balkans. This freshwater oasis became a national park in 1983 and covers around 400 square kilometers. The Montenegrin portion of the lake represents one of the country's five national parks, featuring stunning natural beauty with dramatic mountains providing a picture-perfect backdrop to the vast water expanse.

The lake is a paradise for bird enthusiasts, home to over 280 bird species including the rare Dalmatian pelican. Its wetlands serve as crucial habitats for numerous endangered species, making it an important ecological treasure.
