Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park is Scotland's first national park and it's easy to see why it earned this status. The landscape here is absolutely stunning with its mix of sparkling lochs, rugged mountains, and thick forests. Just a short drive from Glasgow, this natural playground covers about 720 square miles of some of the most beautiful terrain in the UK.

The park is centered around Loch Lomond, the largest inland body of water in Great Britain by surface area. The eastern shore follows the famous Highland Boundary Fault, which marks the division between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland – you can literally have one foot in each geological region!

The area has deep historical roots too. Rob Roy MacGregor, the famous Scottish outlaw and folk hero, roamed these lands in the early 18th century. His grave can be found in the small village of Balquhidder within the park. The region also inspired Sir Walter Scott's poem 'The Lady of the Lake,' which helped spark tourism to the Scottish Highlands in the 1800s.
