Regensburg

Regensburg
Regensburg is a beautiful old city located in Bavaria, Germany. With a history dating back almost 2,000 years, it's one of Germany's best-preserved medieval towns. The historic center became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006, and for good reason.
The city sits at the northernmost point of the Danube River, which gives it a special charm with riverside cafes and restaurants. The Stone Bridge, built in the 12th century, is an engineering marvel that served as a model for other famous bridges across Europe.
The Gothic St. Peter's Cathedral dominates the skyline with its impressive twin spires. Inside, you can hear the Regensburger Domspatzen, one of the oldest boys' choirs in the world.
The city has a surprising Roman heritage - it was originally a Roman fort called Castra Regina. Parts of the ancient Roman walls are still visible today. Regensburg also has a strong connection to the Holy Roman Empire, having hosted numerous imperial assemblies.
The winding streets are filled with colorful buildings, small shops, and traditional Bavarian restaurants. Regensburg is home to one of Germany's oldest sausage kitchens, the Historische Wurstküche, serving food since 1146 to workers who built the Stone Bridge. Today, tourists and locals alike enjoy their famous sausages with sauerkraut and sweet mustard.
