Rhodes

Rhodes is a stunning Greek island in the Aegean Sea with a rich history that spans over 2,400 years. The island's medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, takes you back in time with its cobblestone streets, ancient walls, and the impressive Palace of the Grand Master. The mixture of Byzantine, Ottoman, and Italian influences is evident in the architecture throughout the city.

Beyond the historic center, Rhodes offers beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters. The east coast features organized sandy beaches perfect for families, while the west coast has more rugged shores with great conditions for windsurfing. Lindos, with its ancient acropolis perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, is one of the most photographed spots on the island.

The local cuisine is a highlight, blending traditional Greek flavors with influences from nearby Turkey and the Middle East. Try pitaroudia (chickpea fritters) or karavolous (snails) for authentic Rhodian specialties. The island also produces excellent wines from indigenous grape varieties.

With over 300 days of sunshine per year, Rhodes has earned its nickname as 'The Island of the Sun.' The best time to visit is during spring or fall when temperatures are pleasant and crowds are thinner than in the peak summer months.
