Saas Fee

Saas Fee is a beautiful car-free village located in the Swiss Alps, often referred to as "The Pearl of the Alps". The village sits at 1,800 meters above sea level, surrounded by thirteen 4,000+ meter peaks, including the iconic Dom, which is the highest mountain located entirely within Switzerland. The views here are genuinely breathtaking, with massive glaciers, snow-capped mountains, and lush valleys in every direction.

What makes Saas Fee special is its preservation of tradition alongside modern amenities. The old part of the village has retained its charm with ancient wooden structures known as "stadels" (grain stores built on stone mushrooms to keep rodents away) standing next to contemporary restaurants and shops. The local culture is strongly influenced by mountain life, and you can still find locals who maintain many Swiss traditions.

The resort is famous for its year-round skiing opportunities, thanks to the high-altitude glaciers that allow summer ski sessions. Beyond winter sports, Saas Fee offers incredible hiking trails, mountain biking routes, and proximity to the world's highest revolving restaurant, Allalin, at 3,500 meters. The restaurant delivers 360-degree views of the surrounding Alps, with visibility that sometimes reaches as far as the Matterhorn.

Interestingly, Saas Fee has been a pioneer in sustainable tourism in Switzerland, with its car-free policy and focus on renewable energy sources. The village gets most of its electricity from hydropower, making it one of the most environmentally friendly ski resorts in the Alps.
