Saint Catherine

Saint Catherine
Saint Catherine, located in the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, is a place of incredible spiritual and historical importance. This small town sits at the foot of Mount Sinai, where according to religious traditions, Moses received the Ten Commandments.
The main attraction here is Saint Catherine's Monastery, one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world, dating back to the 6th century. The monastery houses an impressive collection of religious icons and ancient manuscripts, second only to the Vatican's collection. Inside, you'll find the famous Burning Bush, which according to biblical accounts, is where God first spoke to Moses.
The town is surrounded by stunning desert landscapes and rugged mountains that have attracted pilgrims and adventurers for centuries. The area is inhabited by Bedouin people who maintain their traditional lifestyle and customs despite the increase in tourism.
The climate here is quite extreme, with hot days and cold nights, especially during winter when snow can sometimes cover the mountain peaks. Despite being remote and having basic facilities, Saint Catherine remains a significant destination for those interested in religious history, hiking, and experiencing the unique culture of the Sinai Peninsula.
